Equipment & Smart Start
Everything students need for the day
Every student is expected to provide the following basic items of equipment for every lesson:
- Black or blue ball point pen (and a spare)
- Pencil
- Coloured pencils/felt tips
- Pencil eraser
- Pair of compasses
- Pencil sharpener
- Protractor
- Glue stick
- Ruler
- Calculator
Calculators are available from the school office at a cost of £10.00 to be paid via the Parentpay website.
Text books and specialised equipment will be issued on loan and students will be required to pay for any loss or damage to school property.
Students will need a sturdy school bag in which to carry everything they need for the day. Year 7 will have access to a locker; any additional lockers will be made available to other year groups.
Mobile Phones and ipods
The school cannot be responsible for the loss, damage or theft of any phone, ipod or similar equipment brought into school. If students do bring these items in, they should be kept in their school bags. In particular, mobile phones should be switched off during the school day. If a student is seen using their mobile phone the item will be confiscated and a letter will be sent home advising you of this. If a student needs to phone home, they should go to the office to do so. Please do not phone your child during the day; if you need to speak to them please phone the school office and we will pass the message on or find them to speak to you. If we need to contact you during the day, we will always do so via a member of staff.
The following items MUST NOT be brought into school:
- Alcohol or drugs of any kind
- Cigarettes or lighters or any sort of smoking or vaping equipment.
- Any kind of spray can, including deodorant.
- Any kind of knife or weapon, including replicas or “training knives”
- Valuable items e.g. cameras or large sums of money
- Any item which is inappropriate or illegal in a school context
