Food & Nutirition
Learning to cook is a crucial life skill that enables students to feed themselves and others affordably and well, now and in later life.
During Key Stage 3 students will understand the principles of nutrition and health and apply this by cooking a repertoire of savoury dishes. This will allow them to become competent in a range of cooking techniques and understand the source, seasonality and characteristics of a broad range of ingredients.
At Key Stage 4 students will study GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition. Students will learn about food commodities, nutrition, diet and good health, food science and food provenance as well as food preparation. There is a written examination paper at the end of the course as well as two assessments, a food science investigation and food preparation
