Modern Foreign Languages
The philosophy of the MFL department at Fairfield is based on the belief that students should be able to communicate for a real purpose in the foreign language. To this end, the department emphasises the development of practical skills in lessons, in an engaging and enjoyable way. We also encourage students to foster an understanding and appreciation of foreign cultures – whether it’s tasting food or trying salsa dancing! We also endeavour to offer experiences abroad where possible.
All students will have the opportunity to learn either French or Spanish at Key Stage 3 and we urge the majority of our students to continue studying a foreign language at Key Stage 4.
