Vocational courses are practical-based and sometimes involve work experience placements off site and visits to places of potential future employment for students. Now many of them also include written external exams or assessments
On this highly practical course students have the opportunity to gain an insight into craft work. The course enables students to gain skills required to earn a living from creating their own designs and products.
They will be involved in a variety of projects in which they can explore one or more craft areas including jewellery, woodwork, dressmaking etc. As their work progresses they will build a portfolio of evidence of the skills they have gained. At level 2 students will be expected to complete a timed (30 hours), craft project which is externally assessed.
In addition students will visit various craft outlets, for example, The Three Counties Show and Royal Welsh Christmas Fair.
