Animal Care

Vocational courses are practical-based and sometimes involve work experience placements off site and visits to places of potential future employment for students. Now many of them also include written external exams or assessments.

Students studying for the BTEC level 2 in Animal Care will spend time feeding and caring for the many animals we have on site, studying their habits and behaviour. Students also learn about animal biology and complete practical and written assignments.

In addition the new BTEC NQF course is assessed through an external exam which is worth 25% of the final mark and must be passed at Level 2 in order to achieve certification. Students also undertake visits as part of the course to study animals elsewhere, eg Cotswold Wildlife Park.
